The Acoustic Instrument Calibration Laboratory (LACAINAC) was founded in January 2000 and forms part of the laboratory network madri+d, It was accredited by the ENAC in July 2001 for calibrating and verifying sound level meters, integrating averaging sound level meters and sound calibrators.

Legal Metrology
- Verification of sonometers and sound calibrators
- The laboratory has been recognized as a laboratory for legal metrology in the following Spanish counties:
- Madrid
- Castilla - La Mancha
- Castilla y León
- Aragón

- Types of verification:
- Primitive. It is applied to all sonometers, integrating averaging sonometers and sound calibrators before going to market, after they have obtained the model approval.
- Periodic. It is applied to all instruments during the first year of use. Also, this verification will be applied to all instruments purchased before the publication of the Orden Ministerial (Ministry Act) of December 16th, 1998.
- Post Repair. It is applied on those instruments that have undergone repairs which involved the breaking of a seal, or when seals are missing or broken.
- Post Modification. It is applied when the serial number of the microphone of a sonometer or integrating averaging sonometer does not match with the serial number of the microphone shown in the latest instrument verification certificate.
