In 1997 a group of professors from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, with ample experience in acoustics and electronic instrumentation, joined the INSIA and formed a research group that has developed several R+D+i projects in areas such as applied acoustics and electronic instrumentation. This group has been recognized by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid as the Instrumentation and Applied Acoustic Research Group (I2A2) .
